Seven Taliban insurgents and two policemen were killed and nine rebels and one policeman were wounded during a clash in the Giru district of southern Ghazni province, an official said on Wednesday. Lal Mohammad, a resident of the locality, said the clash broke continued for several hours. Police chief Brig. Gen. Mohammad Zaman said the clash erupted after militants stormed security check-posts in the district late on Tuesday night. The security forces also seized several weapons belonging the assailants. There has been no word from the Taliban in this regard.
