Iran dismisses US allegations of terrorist activities.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi took a swipe at Washington for resorting to “false and baseless” allegations against the Islamic Republic, after the US administration imposed sanctions on two men from Bahrain, placed them on a terrorist list, and accused Iran of providing arms to rebels in the Arab country. The US Department of State said in a statement on Friday that Ahmad Hassan Yousuf and Mortada Majid Ramadan Alawi have been placed on the terrorist list in accordance with a previous executive order for those who pose threats to US interests.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry rejected the recent accusations made by Saudi Arabia’s defense minister as complete nonsense resulting from a sense of frustration and part of Mohammad Bin Salman Al Saud’s “delusive policies that are based upon lies”. History shows that trans-regional powers’ interference brings about nothing but insecurity in the very same countries that have invited the aliens, the Iranian spokesman noted, adding that foreign interference in the region leads to “instability, division, and the spread of terrorism and violence”. In recent meetings in the US, bin Salman and American authorities accused Iran of seeking expansionist moves in the Middle East and of sponsoring terrorist organizations.

Astana peace talks on Syria flop after rebel no-show.

Peace efforts for Syria floundered on March 15 as a third round of talks that were sponsored by Russia and Turkey ended with no progress after rebels refused to show up to a meeting in Kazakhstan.  Regime supporters Russia and Iran along with rebel-backer  Turkey have been pushing negotiations in Astana since January after gains on the ground by Damascus turned the tables in the six-year war. The latest two-day meeting saw a delegation from Damascus meet with representatives from the three powers, but leaders of armed rebel groups stayed away for the first time over alleged violations of a fragile cease-fire deal.

Consensus on strong US-Saudi stretgic relationship

During the meeting between Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdullaziz Al Saud and US President Trump in Washington on Tuesday, they discussed strengthening bilateral relations and regional issues of mutual interest. The two directed their teams to strengthen an elevate the US-Saudi strategic relations for the benefit of both countries, to deepen commercial ties and expand cooperation in the energy sector. Concerning regional issues the two countries discussed in particular Iran’s destabilizing regional activities and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and its solution. Moreover they talked about the ongoing security and military cooperation between the two countries in confronting ISIS and other transnational terrorist organizations. They also discussed bilateral cooperation in the economic, commercial, investment and energy fields and the developing of a new United States-Saudi program.

The third round of Syria reconciliation talks in Astana is being extended for one day in the anticipation of arrival of Syrian armed opposition representatives to the negotiations, with the talks participants expected to discuss differentiation between terrorists and armed groups, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry’s Asia and Africa Department Director General AidarbekTumatov told Sputnik. “Tomorrow, on the 16th, the talks will be continued with a military aspect included, which, I think, is important, given the issues of terrorist groups’ location, including that of the IS and the Jabhat al-Nusra, and the location of moderate opposition are expected to be discussed”,Tumatov said. The future of the document will depend on the participants of the talks, but the humanitarian aspect is the most important in this process, the official added.

Iran will receive a new Airbus jetliner on March 19 or 20 and four others in the next Iranian calendar year, ending March 20, 2018, FarhadParvaresh, the managing director of the Airline of the Islamic Republic of Iran (Iran Air) said on Saturday. The first plane, Airbus A321, that Iran purchased from the European aviation giant Airbus, landed in Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport on January 12, 2017.
